Child Genius

OK, most of you by now know how annoyed I have always gotten when I hear people talk about how gifted and advanced their child is. Seriously, it is not possible for EVERY child ever born to be advanced for their age. But then I had a child. And now I am the one always talking about how smart my child is. I am now that person. I am the mom that forces others to hear about the amazing feats my daughter unleashes before our eyes. And I don't even care if I am now the one that annoys everyone else! ;)

Let me tell you about Bridget's latest stroke of brilliance. We bought Bridget some new spring clothes – a bunch of mix and match separates from Old Navy. I spread them out across the floor and started counting how many outfits I could assemble using the various separates.

"One, two, ... six, seven, eight.." And then out of nowhere, Bridget shouts across the room, "NINE!"

I am dead serious folks. She didn't chime after two, or even three, she waited until I got to eight and busted in with the last single digit on the list. She is 19 months old! Child Genius!!!

I am that mom too. It's hard being a mom to such a brilliant and gifted child ;)

Kara,
I am not surprised. Children "take in" much more than we are ever aware. Both good and not so good. It is always important to remember that. With that said, yes, she is brilliant. Not surprising, given her parents.

It's ok to be that person ;) I think babies and children, in general, are WAY smarter than anyone gives them credit for. Lovely clothes!! :)
