Bridget Dance Mix

We headed out for a family outing last night and went for an early bird dinner at the local IHOP followed by a stroll through Borders. This is about as wild as we get on Saturday nights! While in Border's we stumbled upon a fun new tool - a kiosk that lets you pick your favorite mix of songs and burn them onto a disc right then and there.

This is perfect on many levels considering we have not entered into the current century and do not have a working ipod. We got to work picking out some of Bridget's favorite tunes, specifically the one's she likes to dance to. It was really fun going through all the songs and letting her listen to the samples on the big headphones. Unfortunately we didn't have a camera with us, but imagine a miniature version of your favorite DJ holding a set of headphones to one ear and using the other arm to spin records. It was kind of like that.

After about 10 minutes of browsing songs, and 5 minutes for it to burn, we emerged with Bridget's very first custom CD. We named it Bridget's Dance Mix.

Here is the list of songs we chose. Yes, we know some of the titles are questionable, as is some of the content, but the lyrics go so fast that Bridget cannot decipher the words yet. She is really just in it for the beat.

If you think we are horrible parents for letting our daughter listen to questionable music, don't worry, Border's does too.

A Fab Vocab

The time has come to put an end to the "Bridget's Growing Vocabulary" list that has been on the side of this blog for the last year. Bridget is just picking up words too fast, and I fear that I have missed a lot already. I am going publish the list as it stands today so we have a history of it. For the most part they are in reverse order with her first spoken words at the end of the list.

Music ~ Stuck ~ Green ~ Pink ~ Smell ~ Pillow ~ Blanket ~ ABC ~ Broccoli ~ Off ~ Pretty ~ Pig ~ Turtle ~ Teeth ~ Coffee ~ Sick ~ Sorry ~ OK ~ Out ~ Door ~ Shirt ~ Pants ~ Zip ~ Monkey ~ Hello ~ Up ~ Down ~ Sip ~ Milk ~ Thank You ~ Please ~ Excuse Me ~ Boots ~ Eye ~ Nose ~ Mouth ~ Night-Night ~ Cookie ~ Umbrella ~ Apple Juice ~ Eat ~ Jacket ~ Hot Dog ~ Cracker ~ Banana ~ Keys ~ All Done ~ Toes ~ More ~ Bite ~ Stop ~ Dirty ~ Cheese ~ Nikki ~ Leanna ~ Bye Bye ~ Duck ~ Bottle ~ Shoe ~ Sock ~ Book ~ Ball ~ Baby ~ Cat ~ Dog ~ No ~ Mama ~ Dada ~ Papa

In addition to all these words, there are a few choice ones I've chosen to omit – I figure they don't count since we didn't know she was so good at repeating what we say until recently ;)

A Day at the Ranch

Bridget and dad went up to visit Uncle Pete last weekend while mom was playing working in Las Vegas. Bridget hadn't been there in a while and she was able to really enjoy all of the animals up at "Honey Rock Ranch."

Bridget and dad also did a little shopping while mom was away and she got her first pair of Crocs and picked out her own pair of sunglasses. They were both perfect for a warm and sunny day up in Healdsburg:

Bridget helped Uncle Pete feed the ducks and chickens (I just love this hands-on-hips pose):

Bridget also got to try her hand at leading the llama around. In case you are wondering, the llama's name is Dolly.

Man Clutter

Seriously I could not have planned this post if I tried. I was reading one of my favorite magazines, Real Simple last night while Bridget and Nathan played with her favorite toy, Mrs. Potato Head. I almost choked on my water when I got to this page:

It was such a familiar sight that I immediately jumped up and went tearing through the apartment to decide which of Nathan's shelves matched this picture the best. I decided on this one:

Had I come across this article pre-Bridget, the photo would have been dead on. Nathan used to have green Army action figures, aka "little men" set up around the apartment. They got put away when I convinced him they were a choking hazard.

Yes, that IS a miniature Darth Vader on the shelf. And yes, Nathan has taught Bridget how to do a Vader imitation by breathing heavily.

Happy Mothers Day

Just had to add some pictures of Bridget and Mommy. And one of Kara and I at a canucks game. Nathan

Rosy Toes

I guess it is not a huge surprise that Bridget is into girly things. She loves purses and jewelry. She loves to help mommy put makeup on, and getting the blush brush tapped on her cheeks is the highlight of every morning. She loves when I put "pretend" perfume on her in the morning. And she LOVES having her nails painted. We indulged her with a pedicure this afternoon. It seems to be the one thing she will sit still for.

UPDATE:
Bridget is still loving her painted toes. Monday morning she was sitting on mommy's lap and she waved and said "Bye bye toes!," just as I slipped her socks over her feet.

Drama Queen

Bridget and I had a little struggle of wills while leaving the house the other morning. Bridget has a new play stroller she likes to use to take her baby dolls (and Mrs. Potato Head) for walks. She likes to take this stroller everywhere, and she really wanted to take it with her to daycare the other day. She had a complete meltdown when I said no. First she collapsed on her back in the hallway. When I walked away (with the stroller, to put it away), she followed me into the living room and collapsed on her tummy. I had just enough time to grab the camera and snap this picture as she was raising her head (to make sure I was still paying attention, I'm sure). We settled the situation by letting bringing the umbrella to the car instead.

It is safe to say the terrible two's have begun.
